Suggestions on avoiding Mike’s GIDT theory:

1. Don’t type anything on the Internet you wouldn’t mind your mom (or grandma) reading. They might.
2. Don’t lie if only because later you will forget which particular lie you posted on which board and then someone with nothing better will do and go back and post your previous lie right next to your current lie.
3. Don’t be sneaky. Ditto on #2.
4. Don’t post when you have been drinking heavily. This leads to transgressions of numbers 1-3 above.
5. Don’t post when you are angry because even if you try to go back later and edit someone will have already pasted your words into their computer and will throw them up against you forever. (They do this even more on drunken ramblings.)
6. Remember that the Internet is not “real life”. So who cares what anyone says which leads to the big one …
7. Secure, successful people have nothing to prove and they most certainly don’t need to make themselves feel big by making someone else feel small. (For a living example of this philosophy in action just search all posts under the name “Ken Snow”.)

PS Oh and one more- there is a wonderful philosophy called “scroll on by” when a discussion turns hateful and spewing negative energy.
