We gave an award to the Peacock family at Rug Summit 7. Why? Because they have the smallest space for operating a successful rug plant that we know of. Despite its size, they clean $350,000 in rugs a year. And yet, they still have capacity to increase production and accommodate more growth within its walls. Amazingly, they operate in only $950 sq. ft. (This aspect of their company is not even full-time yet)

The following pictures show their utilization of space with time saving equipment to be able to accomplish their production. They really have done a study of time and space to output production as they do. Enjoy the pictures:

Very Nice, I don't see any dusting going on.

He is big on dusting as well as all other phases of rug care.

This video was shot some time ago:

Wow really amazing in such a small footprint. :icon_cool:

Tom any idea what kind of investment they have in equipment, they look like they have all the necessities in order to be productive.

As he built the business and revenue stream, they acquired various pieces from Centrum Force over time as seen in the pictures: Wolverine Rug Duster, the Wash Tub, SP-14 Centri-Maxx (As recent as last month, now the SP-6 version of Centri-Maxx), X-Series rug hanging system, and the Wet Rug Loader.

If they were to buy them all at once now at 2013 cost, they would pay $120,500 for what is seen in their shop.

The clog in production is dusting. For the future, architectural adjustments are needed for dusting production equipment.

Tom if someone were making that investment today what kind of longevity can be expected from most of those components? 120K is quite the investment but if you have a steady stream of work flowing to you then it makes that payment much more palatable.

Everything we make is heavy gauge structural steel and overbuilt for what is called for. We do not make 'ticker toys'. Understandably, moving parts will wear and will need maintenance. The steel structure of things will last decades. Baldor motors and gear boxes are recognized industry standards and will provide many years of service.

Psychologically and monetarily, if you compare this set up to a big box truck mount investment at the same cost, and considering it can produce the same dollar revenue per year, our equipment will outlast the truck. Our equipment does not require oil changes, fuel, over the road tires, liability auto insurance, and the like required for truck support and usage. Naturally, that is subjective. Just some food for thought.

He has two centrums. The one looks pretty small... too small maybe what size rugs can that smaller one take.

Do you still make the smaller centrum?

Thanks for asking.

The smaller centrifuge is 6' in length. It handles comfortably 6' X 12's and smaller. Yes we still make them. We currently are in production for them now as are the 12' and 14' models too.

Hey Tom, I'd like to also know what he's using on that fringe. Does it really whiten up that easy? I'm going to need a duster as soon as business picks up.

Did he start with the smaller centrifuge and and grow it?

I would think he would sell the smaller one to free up some space.

They just acquired the small centrifuge in September. They picked it up at Rug Summit 7.

Because space is a concern, and rug turnaround is vital for them to make room for more rugs always coming in, their business drove them to add the SP-6 to increase production.
