They were about ready to go to market with a machine a while ago. James decided it was too expensive and too heavy. The machine was Much bigger from what I can make of it than the current shipping model.
I actually agree with him that robot vacuum cleaners are in our future. And I can see the benefits for day to day upkeep. But it is in no way a replacement for proper mains powered vacuuming. With all battery devices that exist today, there is just not sufficient energy reserves to achieve the airflow needed to deep clean. So a proper 120v or 240v machine is required for the week to week cleanings.
It bugs me when he says he wouldn't release it until it worked properly. That's still years away. He as the maker really knows this better than anybody.
