I wish you showed the backside in photo.

If knotted you will need to sew the edges, with the stiches going over the foundation yarns but not staying over top of the rug and going into the rug about 2 -3 inches.
If tufted- you can just glue the edges for your purpose.

come to think about----for your purpose-
you can glue the edges either way-- and glue underside along edges about 1-2 inches all the way around..

Mike, flip the Chinese rug and roll some of that rubber stuff advertised, the leak stopper. It should soak in enough to bind it all up.

Or, buy a few floor mat sized rugs and use them for demos.
