Any suggestions on the best course to attend for hands on training in tile/grout as a beginner? Identification, cleaning, sealing, color sealing, etc.

Thanks, I think I'm just being being a little gunshy about jumping into a new category and just need to cowboy up. Classtime definitely cuts down on mistakes and boosts confidence. Been wanting to check out Mikeys Fest for awhile. Upgraded from a Bane to a new Butler high heat-flying out tonight to pick up new rig. Hope to meet you guys soon at Miley's Fest, thanks.

Let us know if you come through Alabama. Old Toasty will buy us lunch.

Hey, now!

Come to think of it, I may have some wild cherry left to smoke a pork butt. And a guest room. Mebbe the lake will be back up and we could go taze some of those smart-assed fish that don't like my bait...

So sure, come on by.

I am more than happy to help with anything related to tile cleaning. Let me know what questions you have. The good thing about porcelain and ceramic tile cleaning is that there is not too much you can do wrong, however that doesnt mean its fool proof. A few rules of thumb would be to always use alkaline first, then acid if needed. If you use acid, be sure to neutralize. Be very careful around baseboards in residential. If its not real wood, it will swell like a tampon when wet and you will be replacing it. PM me anytime to chat.

Interlink locations schedule a hands-on tile & grout class about once a year. This is a 1/2 day class. Many locations have a tile floor for customers to try out machines. Many of the sales team would be willing to let you do a little hands-on under their guidance before you head-off to a customer's home.

I sell the Accellerated Tile, Grout and Stone training course on DVD for $99 - https://interlinksupply.com/index.php?item_num=JS090. This includes lots of photos and some videos. But not quite hands-on.

The IICRC Stone, Masonry and Tile class will give you the in-depth unmderstanding of natural stone types, different tiles, how they are made and installed etc. It does include a few hours of hands-on over the 2 day period. Check here for a class near you - http://www.cvent.com/Events/Calendar/Calendar.aspx?cal=ab53c6cb-fee0-44a6-a384-c51a2a4b32c0

With proper routine maintenance, your tile flooring will last a long time before needing professional cleaning. Most often, it is the grout that requires the cleaning first, and many carpet-cleaning companies offer tile and grout cleaning services. Whether your tile needs new sealant due to age, or the tile was not properly sealed in the first place, these professional services can both thoroughly clean your flooring as well as add new sealant to the tile and grout. Many of these professional services will remove dirt and bacteria from both the tile and grout, leaving it in like new condition. A professional grade sealant is then applied to the grout to ensure maximum protection.

If have never taken an IICRC class and you want to start your own business, I highly recommend taking one. Anyone can spray cleaner and use a spinner tool over the tile and grout, but you really should know your surfaces and and understand the PH scale. Wait.....did I just sum up the class, lol.
