Damon is feeling like an idiot today so let's let him enjoy our fellow idiocy.

But I never have. NorCal doesn't get cold enough and my NV garage never drops below 50°

Surly Jimmy has frozen his make believe Cleanco out there on the plains...

My first freeze up was in 1979.

Truck mount manufacturer (name unmentioned, I don't represent them anymore, though not over this) said their machine didn't need to be protected from freezing.

It was very late at night and I had just finished a demonstration, the temperature was around zero.

I was grateful not to have to freeze protect it, I was cold and tired and just wanted to get into my room.

Sadly, it needed freeze protected, despite the manufacturer's assurances.

I have had frozen pressure lines but not a machine yet. And I have no garage or heated area to park it in.

Yep, my prochem Legend froze up. Thank goodness, there were no cracks in the heat exchangers. Just some lines and sensors needed replaced

What do they know?

When you're 19, you think that people who design things and the people who market those things understand them perfectly, and always tell the truth.

Its also easier to believe them when you are tired, cold, and wet and don't want to do anything but come in out of the cold.

Yes. I'm an idiot. I fully take the blame for my dummyness. I'm so stressed out about this. Hopefully the engine and main exchanger are fine. I think I got lucky but I'm waiting for the final word from my mechanic. Going to be a couple of days. Never a boring moment.

There always needs to be a weak link that sacrifices itself to save expensive parts.

For the Bane it was the ALUMINUM screws that held the pump together. I arrogantly replaced them with "improved" ss bolts. Next freeze screws held, pump cracked.

For the 405s the weak link is the brass elbow behind the graham helicoil.

I had my fresh water supply hose hooked up. That blew out also. I believe by having that hooked up and and not disconnected from the QD, I saved my pump.

Can anyone enlighten me on what the weak link is on the Titan575, just in case I freeze mine in the future?

I froze my first one. Blew the coil in the lg propane heater. The valve on my wand. I was able to get the coil brazed. Never had one freeze since.

I've had a couple lines freeze when I didn't get working fast enough in 0 degree temps but never anything major. But I only went 1 winter without a heated garage.

Nice to see your stories but I still feel stupid. And mad. Mostly mad. I hate spending money on non-fun stuff.

Education is expensive. I sure have paid my tuition.
Is this your first, and hopefully last, freeze mistake?

Nope.....

Knock on wood....

I even have electric baseboard heaters through out the shop on 220v just in case a furnace goes out....

and or if we lose power, I can hook up generators to heat the shop, and even my home...

when you live in the artic....you learn to prepare :confusedd:

(PS...I am getting older and hate the cold! )

And for those wanting some cold weather cleaning tips....here is my YouTube playlist of playing in the cold (and trying to make a living)
