I see that Jim Bardwell is doing a presentation at MF that will explain how to understand personality styles using a system commonly called "DISC".

If you want to know why the best cleaner you know won't sell add ons....go to this program

If you want to know why the cleaner who adds on the most work seems to miss spots...go to this program

If you want ways to understand why some customers seem to "get you" and others can't stand you..and visa versa...go to this program.

If you want to know why Marty gets annoyed at Mark Saiger's videos ...go to this program

I could go on and on ....just go.

I use this system in my work and even interpersonal relationships nearly every day.

The DISC thing yer talking about can sorta backfire. My previous employer swore by it and crammed it down us every 5 years. Created more confusion then it did help us at the work force level. Folks that had climbed the management ladder who were identified and non "people friendly" were struggling as middle managers of the work force. The backfire was that we almost never made changes in people moving to a job or area (for which they were better suited) voluntarily. We'd all take the tests together (broken into groups) all see one anothers results (and I mean from the top down) then chuckle about so and so needing to back to being a technician and the lead secretary should actually be the maintenance manager or even the general manager. And some of us were diagnosed as well balanced in all areas and should rule the world.

In the end my experience was it was not really that funny at all. If individuals answer all those questions honestly and the overall theory about the results are true then someone has to call some shots and make some changes. Folks who are struggling in jobs descriptions need to be tweaked or moved (or sadly terminated). Others need the opportunity to further educate and get promoted. Mostly what you see is the Peter Principle; a subject for another illuminating and riveting thread...

omg, just looked online. There is a plethora of these these tests free online. If I may encourage any curious shoppers here, take these tests in the comfort of your home computer and keep the results to yo self. Remember planet of the apes, "you may not like what you find"

It's valid.

However its interpretation is often too subjective, or subtly biased.

Regarding the "Peter Principle", also valid, you see it in most hierarchies. If you are competent at your job, you get promoted until you reach a level where you are finally incompetent. There you stay. Explains many organizations.
