How to publicly thank an online review? What do you say?

I'm always blank minded when my customers leave a review. I want to just say thanks, but I don't want to look like a recording, nor do I want to say anything too personal in my public thanks.

What do you say?

Example:
What an amazing service! I needed my carpets cleaned before I moved out and he brought them back to life! They looked better than when I moved in! Professional and kind, who wouldn't choose currahee cleaners!

How do I thank that review I just got?

I'd say something like -

1: Thanks *****, it was a pleasure to meet you and help take care of your carpet cleaning needs. Remember we do upholstery cleaning too. Take care until next time.

2: Thanks for the kind words ****, Call me anytime if there is anything else we can take care of for you.

so on and so forth. You don't need to write a long reply. Just some kind acknowledgement works. That's just my 2 cents worth.

I always respond to reviews and have had customers remark that they like that.
Remember that your customer is unlikely to read the review, so really you are speaking to POTENTIAL customers. Keep it short and courteous. Maybe a personal tidbit like "your dog is the most friendly little guy" or "I wish you many happy years in your new home."
Never use their name. Barry's answers are good templates.

Barry nailed it.

Yelp actually recommends to NOT respond.
Do they give a good reason why you shouldn't respond? Personally, I think yelp aint nothing but a bunch of pests. But I'd like to know their reasoning

"Thank you for posting about your experience with us. It means so much to us that you took time out of your busy day to share your experience with Burdick's Cleaning."

"Wow! Thank you for the kind words. It makes us happy when our customers feel this way about our service and take the time to tell us."

"We are so happy you were pleased with our service. Thank you for taking time to share your experience with us."

"This is why we do what we do! It was our pleasure to serve you and we appreciate that you took the time to post feedback about your experience with us"

I keep it to the thank you and don't use the opportunity to talk about our other services.....I think it's better to make it about them and not slide in anything about other or future services.

I would use a 1 sentence response, that isn't a form letter. 1 sentence is really easy to come up with and will reflect what mood you are in (playfull, happy, energized, ect.) it will keep you away from the same response to every person which potential customers will pick up on but will still be easy and fast to do. It can also convay a tidbit that you may have forgotten to tell them but you picked up on, like ....message.... ps. nice lawn, nice fountain, loved your rose bushes. ect.

I like the idea of personalizing a thank you and would do that in a thank you card mailed to the house. I would not post on any type of public site (Facebook, up etc) about any personal info or observations. (Congrats on new house, baby, graduation. Cute dog, nice fountain etc). Kind of creepy to me and I wouldn't want anyone to know about my Perrsonal life events and house decor etc.

You never know who's looking at that. Wedding, birthday, graduation, custom art piece. Easy to track down where you live and break In and steal gifts etc if they were keeping an eye online.

Or what about the neighbor or co worker thAt sees the post and wasn't invited to the "event" you cleaned for and mentioned and they get their panties in a bunch.

No thank you. Keep the personal observations to personal correspondence.

Here's another one.

Cannot say enough good things about Matt Wood and Currahee Cleaning Services. Honestly, my carpet looks brand new. Try Currahee Cleaning..... I promise you won't be disappointed.

I've used all the other thank you sentences. Any other ideas? I don't want to repeat the same thing. It'll make me look like an idiot like Marty

Someone's yiu repeae what you said or have a variation of it. Why not combine Some of the responses above?
I just like to have a lot of different ideas up my sleeve and y'all seem to answer my questions quicker than I can think them

Thank you for allowing us to clean the carpets and upholstery in your beautiful home!
Sorry I backed the trailer over the rose bush in the front yard! Matt.
