What are your suggestions to get this slime the kids are making out of carpet and upholstery? It is made with elmers glue, stay flo or eye contact solution, shaving cream and paint. I have had some success with pig on the carpet but not great and it leaves a white spot most of the time. I had had no success getting it out of upholstery and we are seeing it a couple times a week now.

Definitely homemade with all kinds of crap to change the color and how sticky it is. I have not charged more yet because I have not had alot of success getting it out but definitely will and most will be glad to pay.

I bet

my first tool of choice would be napping shears
if large and deep down to the base of fiber, anything that will dissolve/loosen the glue in a timey manner runs the risk of delaminating the carpet.

you might get it out, but might be a "bald spot" after a years worth of traffic and vacuuming

and guess who they'll blame :eekk:

maybe go off the res with some lacquer thinner on a microfiber towel and slowly work at it that way to see if any response

TN and I might play with that at the house before trying it with a customer. It is worth a shot. Is the clean master similar to gelbreak because it didnt make a dent.

That's why I like the OJ solvent. It has the same texture as hand sanitizer, meaning that it stays on top of the carpet. It'll never soak in to the backing

try a little volatile solvent in a spray bottle. (prochem power solvent) or something similar. Lightly mist it on and agitate with a bone scraper or gummy shark. Being volatile, it usually evaporates before delaminating the carpet.

I have not tried this. I don't encounter home-made slime very often. But this works for Elmer's Glue. Cover the slimed area with towel dampened with hot water. Keep the area wet and warm for 10 to 15 minutes to soften up the glue. Scrape and otherwise clean what you can. Then try products for removing the coloring that is left such as All Solv Gel and Avenge Pro.

My kids mix up a batch of this stuff every day. We have tupperware containers full of it. They know to do in Kitchen only on the counters so if it gets on floors we can clean it up.

There are a ton of "recipes" to make it. Everyday my daughter is trying a new way that she learned from YouTube videos. They are adding food coloring. The base is always the glue, but she also uses Borax, laundry detergent, lotions, contact solution and shaving cream. She mixes in things like glitter, beads cut up plastic straws to get different textures. It's crazy...but at least she's being creative and not watching TV or on the other devices.

I think this is a great opportunity for some Facebook marketing...since it's all the rage and I'm seeing this come up here and on many Cleaning FB pages. I'll make up a tips and tricks for what homeowners can do till we get there to make it easier and post on our page and the community groups!
