And now....we just have to see how interested he is...

Didn't get a communication back from him if he wants to try again today ...so we went without him....

And not communication if he wants to try tomorrow (he had these 2 days off at his Wally World job)

SO....we have a 20 year old who has been the night manager at a burger joint that his mom is a former student of mine....

She called and asked if the job was still open....yep...so far....

We might be meeting him tomorrow.....

20 years of age...living at home yet...car payment....not sure if a girlfriend...but has debt...needs a job and been in the service industry....

We shall see....

Austin (our former Pizza Boy) starts work on Monday in Minneapolis....at that large start up carpet cleaning company we worked to help start last year....

they are growing...And Austin gets his own loaded Butler, Zipper, Tom Conway wand, CRB, generous amounts of Sauce....color blind glasses....

What if he has a boyfriend?!?

Why didn't anyone tell "Happy Feet" there's plenty of fish in the sea... It's happy/sad to let someone go, but you've also given him knowledge and training to further his cleaning career if he so desires...

Boyfriend thing....a person never knows I guess....

Actually for the past month, we have been waiting for Pizza boy happy feet Austins comment "I'm moving unless my Girlfriend breaks up with me" comment to maybe happen...

I has been close...more than once....now she is back in her home turf....so....

But....today....I just took him off being able to see the schedule....

New guy lives just half mile down the road...I didn't even know they had moved there...so convenient...and we are going to give him a try today....and maybe tomorrow...

Mark, please keep the stories of the hiring whoa coming. I need them. The last three days I've been working 10-12 hour days while eating granola bars in my van between jobs. I'm behind on my schedule, moving vacant PM jobs to take care of the "pay me now" jobs. It's time to find a monkey.

Last night I cleaned 1,500 sqft in a vacant house. It was a short pile carpet so I thought it would be a good place to test out my Zipper SS. That was a mistake. I feel like I pushed my van up a hill. I've very sore today. I just had to test it out though. Never again on residential, but I bought it for commercial anyway.

I just remembered one of the more interesting new guy/helper story.

We're way down in San Diego working in one of those hotel towers that every postcard would show. We were doing the 35000sqft banquet halls and common halls etc..
I'm walking through the hotel lobby and all of a sudden I see the new guy without his shirt on.....

I'm like: whattahell? There are business people everywhere, tourists from all over the world and this guy decided to work without his shirt on because "it's so hot". He thought this would be ok like it would be for a construction worker on a job site.

But your Dad was stuck with you because you are related???

Raise your prices. Do less work for more money.

Actually so far he is doing well.

He is now on day 2 getting more comfortable. Laughs with us a bit.

He is a little bit shy but really working well with us and clients at this time.

He said he will come back Monday...

He has ran Zipper and wand... He likes the Zipper best so far... But not as much on the new smart strand that doesn't breath...

Will keep people posted.

This has been a good experience for us also.

We need help now and cannot wait as long but we still are picky!

I feel for you Mark. We're at our fourth time with a young Lady that is awesome. College degree but hasn't found anything in her field she likes, so she always comes back and we always accept her with open arms. She works hard, is really good with customers and "gets it". Hiring is a 5 day a week job and it does suck. Hang in there baby!

Lets see if he shows up now today after the weekend and how he feels about carpet cleaning...

I am going to be around him and Aron all day today.

He worked nights at Fast Food joint...

Told him on Friday we have a large commercial job on Monday early evening and finihs around 1 am....if he wants to get in on it with us....

Was a bit of "Deer in Headlights" look :eekk:

Verdict out....

Seems like nice enough...let's see if he can get it rolling today and tonight would be a perfect time to find out "trial by storm" if he's got it!

the boy is starting to fit in so far...

He has a sense of humor....

Tough to just suddenly meet a couple of guys who have been doing this awhile and feel comfortable...

He came out with us last night and did very well and enjoyed himself

He is a saver of his money too...he prides himself on being good with his money

Nice kid and so far we are keeping him and hoping to make things work for all of us.

His name is Adam....so we have another "A" for the "A" team :)

He is fitting in and we are enjoying his company too.

Very difficult for anyone to be tossed in the mix of people you haven't really met and expected to just dive in comfortably... But we are making due :)

If he can go 'til 1 am on such short notice I think you've got a winner.
