I just use my old undies. Once the elastic waistband stretches out they become a spotting towel. I can't wait to use them to dry upholstery. I'm sure Mrs. Smith will tip me when she sees me drying her couch with my undies.
Don't they leave brown streaks?

Always towel. Removes moisture You can groom/set nap with the towel. Affirms your great job. We also towel stairs for the same reasons. If you don't you may be a Hack. On stairs it really helps tucked treads best way to get that area underneath dry and a little cleaner.

I cleaned these years ago, they’re moving out of the area and the lady said she started noticing these spots, she said she thinks she caused them by spraying something to close to the couch.

When I pre sprayed it the popped up on the seat cushions only all around the edges.

They were lighting up a lot during drying.

There’s white cotton bag filled with foam.

Almost looks limes it’s coming from the bag.

Sam's has terry cloth too ...60 count for $20

I've used those in the past.
they're a good inexpensive general purpose towel
but they're the ones that tent to shed lint on upl (and terribly when new/unlaundered).

MF towels are more expensive, but I think they're better all the way the block for everything

I agree, if i was member of Sam's club, id be buying to that.

This is generally my preferred MF for drying amd etc.i havnt bought it from them but the waffle weave (pique) towel. They look lilke they have good deals. Good stuff. Great gym towl too.

Usually, when I know it will help. Especially on natural fiber fabrics. (white cotton towels usually from Walmart--$2 each.)

Yes always I hate leaving lines and prefer all fibers going the same direction

How timely

No lint and idiot free
Yes , as others have posted . White cotton. Esp on microfiber If custy is observing , to show them the towel comes back clean.

Even though there aren't feathers in the cushions, sometimes you can run into flame retardant on the ticking.

Do a pH test on the ticking (inside cloth "bag") and let me know what the pH reads.

how do you pH test a fabric like that?

You don't test the fabric, you test the ticking, if its accessible.

I rarely see this on fabrics that aren't down filled, but I've seen it enough to make me suspicious that its contributed to the problem. @Bryan Ohaleck has seen more than anyone I know, maybe he can chime in?

Either will work. A reading under 6 is suspicious, under 5 is nearly a guarantee of a problem.

I can't tell from the pics what it might be. Dyed fabrics turn pink to red; white fabrics turn yellow to brown.

I remember as a kid hanging out in the dry cleaning & laundry plant while my father worked. One of the things I found odd was they replaced the ticking on pillows.

Another was cleaning and blocking of hats. The adjust-a-drape machine was interesting as was the "liquid gold" fabric protector poured into the dry cleaning machine in case you wanted protector applied to your clothing.
