Well for a long time now i have been using a 12 inch 2 jet 1.5 tube wand with my mytee LTD5 portable.
A few years ago I was still using 1.5 inch vac hose as well. I was told by many to switch to 2 inch vac hose and that the difference would be very very noticeable and alot better as well as being able to do longer hose runs.

I was skeptical but i bought a 50ft section of 2 inch vac hose and boy i couldn't believe the difference it made so i bought more of the 2 inch vac hose and thats all i use now, 2 inch vac hose right to the wand.

Most of the time a 50 ft section of hose is all i need, thats with the machine parked just outside the front door.
I could go 100 ft and still have good suction as i've tried it at home but i wouldn't do that on an actual job, if i have to go 100 foot i use my mytee air hog vac booster. I like to have as much suction as possible and won't push the portable to 100ft by itself without the booster, that thing makes a signifiant difference.

Now to the wand, as i've stated i'm still using a 12 inch 2 jet 1.5 inch tube wand, so i have to use the 2 inch to 1.5 inch reducer cuff to connect the 2 inch vac hose to my wand.

So for awhile now i've been considering going to a 12 inch 2 jet 2 inch tube wand but just wasn't sure if the difference would be noticeable enough to make it worth spending the money.

I've posted on other boards about it and the feedback is mixed.

So i decided that the only way to really find out for myself was to buy one and see for myself.
So i bit the bullet and have one on the way.
Got the wand new for a total of $245 which includes shipping and a glide
The glide will not be installed on the wand as i requested but will be shipped with it.
Just not sure if i want to use a glide or not as the feedback on to use or not to use a glide is mixed as well
A glide will most definitely make it easier to push the wand back and forth, especially on certain carpets.
Its just the water recovery question that is in question.

Does a glided wand give better water recovery or not, that is the question.
So i'll try it both ways and see for myself and come to my own conclusion on that as well.

I'll keep you all updated on my "opinion" if going to the 2 inch tube wand was worth it or not as well as the glide

Ever since I put my glide on my aw29 and upped my flow to magnificent 4 flow.. cleaning is exquisite and dry time is extraordinary. I'd only can imagine what the 1.5 devastator is like after trying 2 devastator. I'm sure I will be pleasantly satisfied.

I made my EDIC porty a 2”. Here’s the video.

We have that same (pronounced) E.D.I.C or Ed-ick, not eeedick)...

Have you used it with your Dev wand yet?
What's with the female QC in the right side?
What do you have in the gun safe?
Why the shirt change mid video?
Where do you keep the piss chems if not your garage?
Who thinks you are the bigger nut job, the dog or the wife?

I’m drinking my Red Stag mixed with Dr. Thunder (knock off WalMart Dr. Pepper). There is no way I'm answering any questions.

The QD on the side is an auto fill i made so i can use it on larger porty jobs. I used a swamp cooler float system for the filler upper thing. I also made an APO system for it. I like my Edic :)

I'm confused ?
Suction is measured in water lift or inches of lift mercury(hg). Airflow is measured in CFM. You need a balance between the 2. Increasing the diameter of your hose will increase the CFM but may decrease the water lift depending on the size of your vacuum motors or blower. You don't want your auction to go below 10 inches hg or roughly 135 inches water lift. Any increase to your airflow (CFM) without dropping your suction too much will allow longer hose runs and will leave carpets drier. Which is why truck mount guys run 2.5 inch hose or four to the door for the first 50-100 feet on large jobs

It's been awhile but i did get the 12 base 2 inch tube two jet wand and used it with my Mytee LTD5, i liked it better then the 1.5 inch tube wand, I then got the myth escape LX vac motor machine never use the 1.5 tube wand anymore.

But as of 5 months ago i bought a brand new Boxer 318 TM with 36 blower I switched the jets to a 4 flow from a 3 flow. Just today i got new jets going up to a 6 flow. They gave me a brand new hydro master evolution wand with the TM but its only a 1.5 tube wand. Tried it a few times its ok but i'll stick withy two inch wand.

It really comes down to what your comfort level is. The other day I was using a 2 inch wand all day as I was cleaning deep pile carpets. Today I am using my 1.5 inch mach 12 on commercial carpet. Heavier carpets I want as much water removal as possible for shorter drying times. Other carpets I am looking for ease of use as 1/2 hour to 1 hour difference is really that important.

wouldn't you want as much water removal as possible for shorter drying times on any carpet/job. I understand that a 1.5 wand will be a little lighter then a 2 inch wand. But personally i don't think i'd complete a job any faster regardless of the wand tube size. And how much weight difference are we talking about anyway between a 1.5 and 2 inch wand assuming they were both stainless steel.

Weight and size are the issue, especially as you get older. It takes more effort to use a 2 inch wand, the grip is different, my hands are starting to get a little arthritic. For the extra 1/2 hour in drying time, it's often not worth it.

Well i guess if you have small hands a 1.5 wand may be easier for someone as opposed to a 2 inch. They do now have a 1.75 inch tube wand one may want to consider. A glide on the wand would also help, i have one for my 2inch wand but i don't have it on there, I did but i took it off. Still on the fence on glides.
I'm no young spring chicken myself as i'll be 60 in a few months but i have no problem using a 2 inch wand. I also am not out there doing 4 or 5 jobs a day either, if i was i may look at it a little different.

I have a second source of income so i don't have to totally rely on carpet cleaning to live.

We're about the same age. I've been doing this full time for 40 years and it's starting to take a bit of a toll on my body. I like my 2 inch wands but just find the 1.5 a little easier to manage. Where drying is an issue, I always use the 2 inch wand.
