I don't know the Gurus with 20 vans so not feeling it. Read Howard P's book $1.99 on Kindle, and thought it was pretty good advice. I sent my Son to work for him in Texas and his company offered my Son min. wage...of course he didn't take it... I thought this business model reminds me of Sears...in the old days...old.
I like being an OO and choosing the business model where I fit. Wasn't sure I did fit anymore but went to MF St. Petersburg a year ago met some great people and thought I still do fit well enough.
Happy like this for now.

That is a super misleading comment about Howard. In Texas you have to pay min wage. You can’t be 100% commission. He also pays commission to his techs on top of the min wage. His guys make solid money. I have seen his compensation plan first hand. He pays for production.

Stop projecting Tom. I'm not misleading anyone.
He does pay commission after Training. I never said he didn't. I said his business model is similar to the old Sears business model...which it is. I believe training was between 3 and six weeks. That's a long time to go at minimum wage if you have bills to pay.
Maybe I should have said Of course he couldn't take it...That was my only point.

I am a proud o/o subchapter s Corp. Not envious of anyone, guru or not. God blesses each in their own calling. He has given us what we needed little by little until there were enough of us to take possession of the land. We worked hard as o/o with a few employees, but continued to be blessed and continued to grow to where I’m “off the truck” and run the business. I love being a diversified building service contractor.

Is it any different than ramping up to sell insurance or a 100% commission sales job with a min wage level draw? Granted not my way to make a living but defiantly not unfair.

I am not a fan of how HP sells his consulting services. I have been in his business and sat with him in his conference room with 12 people and can tell you there is nothing shady about how his service company operates.
It was top notch. He has 4 department mangers and lots of employees who seemed super happy to be a part of what was happening. I really gained an appreciation for HP.
He is great in a small group. In my opinion he is the only verifiable rags to riches consultant in this industry.

Never said it was unfair. But someone has to pay the bills during the ramp up. My Son wasn't in that position... 4 kids.

I agree with most of that. Never said he was shady...I bought his book and thought it was good.
