I would really like to prolong the life of the engine in my 427. Anyone runs amsoil in their truck mount?

I'm sure it's good stuff, but if your going to use Amsoil, might as well go with their premium syn air-cooled racing or premium syn motorcycle oils that specifically state a robust Zinc additive package.

Second best thing you can do it make sure the unit's airflow and supply of fresh air is optimized.

I'll definitely check into it! Thanks!

A local guy here told me that it's not just the oil, but their own oil filters that make them special . They are made just with their specs. and that combo gives that amsoil sales . jz.

Our choice is Kohler's 20W50 motor oil.

Not a synthetic, but has an additive package with more zinc,

that is better than an automotive spec oil with decreased additive package,

for air-cooled engines.

I switched my 38hp Kohler over to the Kohler 20W50 oil several oil changes ago.
Less lifter noise, less oil consumption, less gasket leakage than when I was running Mobile 1 10W30 synthetic.

Kevin is correct . . .

The Kohler 20W50 is a "racing oil package" with more additives.

Kohler switched from 10W30 to 20W50 in their "big block" larger HP engines.

We originally used straight 30W, and our engines performed well.

Some customers who used 10W30 had some issues with piston & ring scuffing.

We have it at a good price ($4.95) for a "top brand racing oil":

I use the Amsoil small engine oil and their oil filters. But have to agree no matter what oil regular maintenance is key.
