If I have to talk to more than ten people over an entire weekend, the weekend is effectively ruined for me....I completely get it Chris.

All of my pals are stunned at how easy I start up conversations with strangers

That's an art I wish I could master Mike.

People ask me what is the most difficult part about public speaking (other than at my place here).

My answer: Talking to people before the program begins, or at cocktail parties. I can talk to hundreds of strangers from a stage, but its like the first day of kindergarten for me if I have to walk up and introduce myself to them one by one in a group.

I guess I'm pretty much anti social.

I don't do well talking with people.

This is as close to people that I'm comfortable with - at a distance, on a screen.

Unless I can talk about cleaning, photography, driving big rigs or skin diving, then I'm at home.

Otherwise, I prefer my own company & solitude.

    :( :arrrr: :yoda:

Now going back to the subject at hand, because as Marty would remind me "This isn't about YOU"

The sort of thing you did there Mike is an important way to build a new business (you are a newbie of course in Carson Valley Land), and also good to do to keep reminding the public that you are there and are part of the community once you've "been there" for a while.

Public speaking skills for a carpet cleaner? .."meh"

Socializing and making sure you are seen as a community supporter? Priceless.

I don't think I've ever talked to a neighbor besides for a waive before leaving for work in the morning. Such different areas.

In Deaf community, I am very social. Otherwise, being social in a hearing world is hard thing to do unless i have interpreter with me. Good for you!

You and Scott. He can walk up and start a conversation with someone and I ask him who that was and he says I have no idea, just met him/her.

You are so mean. He'd be a smash at the Bobblehead Intl. convention, as a Pez model and even a Macy's parade float.
Not to mention the way Stetson keeps asking for a private meeting and Amazonian headhunters save every penny for the day they can travel to Nevada for "La gran calavera blanca del norte!"
