Building a Waste Tank;

I have a local shop that welds stainless and was thinking of have a waste tank built for my leaking Apex tank.
I can pretty much copy what I have, I do have the owners manual.

I have access to 11 gauge stainless steel.

Anyone out there ever build there own tank?
Can anyone share pics of there tanks interior?
Which filters work the best?

Ya... I had a fab shop that could bend 11 ga...
They put TWO bends in a sheet then welded the ends on....

Most important thing is the baffling inside. ..close to two grand if you want it right

they were 100 gal...we jus copied the steam genie tank...

stainless is 'spensive
tigging stainless is crazy 'spensive

but in the end
you have a liftime tank.....

I liked the folds in the Powerclean waste tanks. Greatly stiffened them without added welding and weight.

Price the difference in cost from aluminum to stainless. How many years did the last tank hold up? Is the higher material and fabrication price for stainless worth it? How long do you plan on keeping the machine?

I'm going to do the same.. My tanks last about 10-12 years. My Prochems will last me forever! Waste tanks should only be made of stainless (especially for direct drives)!! When you go to sell your truck mount with all those DEEP pits in the waste tank, good luck!

Could just take the $4250 off the price of a new machine because you already have a waste tank... right?

I've had two Prochem tanks welded up. Both we 10 years old. $600.00. Sold one with the TM but I still have one that was done last year.

Baffling IS the trickiest part of a SS tank design.

Welded supports are required and

continued flexing in between the supports can cause stress cracks just past the welds on the supports.

I didn't use baffles, just columns of 12 gauge 2x2" elbows with 4x4" pads top and bottom. Spot welded bottom only.
