An anemometer measures airspeed, closely related to cfm. There are a number of handheld digital and analog versions used extensively in the HVAC field.

Omega make a reliable mechanical CFM meter as well.

Measuring lift (HG or waterlift) can be done with a variety of vacuum gauges.

NO ONE GAUGE MEASURES BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.

Extech makes some good anemometers to measure air speed. You can get formulas to convert air speed to CFM if you know the size of your hose.

Hydroforce, Bridgepoint and Interlink all carry Extech.

Vacuum gauges are pretty common with any supplier.

I am a bit suspicious of using a duct anemometer with a 4" or 6" port to measure airspeed of a 2" vac hose.

I am also convinced even if we do accomplish the said task, we won't be any less argumentative about CFM/Air speed etc...

I would love to see the numbers and more importantly the behavior of lift and CFM
on the carpet
off the carpet
different wands
different glides
Different rpm
different blower
standard relief

Rafa-L;

This is the CFM instrument we use for CFM measurements:

It is an industrial model with sapphire bearing for the rotating wheel.

I used it to measure a 14" CMP wand with G-glide @ 220 CFM.

We also use it for plumbing and TM design work.
