I buy vacs to use and abuse, not show-off my Molly-Maid skills to Mrs Phiff.
The most important factor to me, is that they suck better than the rest

Pennies, buttons n' bows, broom straw and all...in the canister

That's the empty rat-hole Bissel, BTW
Not the resi Bissel
So don't bust my azz about it looking like he11....

I bought another Momentum tonight at HD.

My Powerclean already took a dump.

Motor got so loud it was unusable.

Costco was out of Powercleans so I took my $99 refund and bought the Momentum and for an extra $10 I got a warranty good for one year.

I couldn't disagree more, Randy.
maybe in your designer rug world you can get away with one vac foevah

but in the world of everyday "normal" cleaners that do many homes with pets, the vac starts to stink like dog sooner or latter.
You can go buy another bag holder for your sani, I can go buy a whole shinny new vac for near the same price.

AND...it sucks better than that POS, belt stalling antique designed ErEEka...
The Eureka/Sani would of choked to death on that pit.
I would of been constantly clearing a stalled belt/roll bar
(I used to use them...they're JUNK)
PLUS..I wouldn't own a vac without a hose attachment

Why in the name of great Aunt Kate wouldn't you rake up that rubble first and then vacuum?

I admit my Momentum will pull more out of a carpet, esp a badly neglected carpet than my Proteam 15xp. But it also blows all kinds of dust out the cracks, etc. My allergies start going nuts very quickly. Also even a small vac bag like the proteam holds as much as 4 or so dirt cups since the filler fiber, etc gets compacted.

I just make sure I move the proteam slowly and it does a good job. Far far less maintenance/upkeep than the momentum and allergy friendly. Momentum would be preferred for the couple jobs a year where I'm filling 4 to 5 bags at one job since it will get the job done in fewer passes, but I found that vac to be a pita.

that's a fact, Grant.
there's plenty blow by and the "so called" hepa filter they put on it is a joke.

but the sumbich sucks like no other vac ...and time is money

With all do respect Larry, I can't see why you would edge first. I always have edged after vacuuming and after cleaning too, if need be. But edging first doesn't make sense to me. Can you enlighten me?

hmmmm
guess it doesn't really matter.
But I edge first 90% of time.
Mostly cause i don't like to edge, so i get it out of the way first thing.

as far as when cleaning..(don't tell my friends, but we don't vac every job) I think edging should be the first thing you do.
Why walk back around freshly cleaned/damp carpets ?

As for cleaning, I use a rotovac360 so I edge using a enclosed jet crevice tool. I'm supposed to get a Greenhorn in the middle of Oct from Greenie. So I can get rid of the rotovac360 and see what I've been missing. Keep in mind that I was raised and trained on the original rotovac and non of my wands have a glide on it. I wouldn't be cleaning if I had to use a unglided wand. Hopefully I can cut some time down on the job using the greenhorn. :D

I prevac every carpet because I don't know any better. It's how I was trained to clean. And having a meticulous (almost borderline OCD  ) mom, so attention to detail is required.
