I don't even know what Okra is?
Delicious plant brought to the Americas during the slave trade.

Good rolled in a corn meal/flour mixture and fried, in gumbo/soup, and mixed with stewed tomatoes over rice.

Gets slimy if boiled to long. Woody texture if picked too large.

One or two plants in plenty to be eating okra all summer

Just like they call baseball or football or whatever inflated game here- the world series, while everybody knows that the real world series is soccer- the world cup.

So it goes with the fried Texas Okra. That ain't okra, that's a grease soaked ex vegetable. Just another excuse to guzzle grease.

This is how you make okra-

That looks delicious (I'd probably use yams in that though)

but properly fried okra isn't greasy

They either fry or BBQ everything in TX.
They still haven't figured out that there are other ways to cook.

VEGETARIAN...... Indian word for lousy hunter........
Once you acknowledge to yourself, how most meat is produced (factory farming etc.) and its actual nutritional value, you may realize who's really at the receiving end of the joke.
Not to mention animal suffering.

Personally I eat animals, because their farts are contributing towards global warming/cooling.. One steak at a time, I alone will make a difference!

I tried going vegan a few times over the years. The longest I lasted was a few weeks before resuming animal protiens again.

This thread has got me thinking about giving it another go.

Maybe I'll toss some pinto's in the Crock.

It kinda sucks that animals have to die so that I can throw down a munchie.

Here's a classic jam by Dire Straights called Industrial Desease

Enjoy :-)
