I had an interesting offer today from a restoration/rug/wall to wall company today..
I do with a few.
In Santa Cruz, or in Nevada? Are you expanding?
On some jobs that im not comfortable on because of the nature of the work or the sheer size of the job, I have brought in other people that I feel that I can trust not only to do a good job but not to steal the customer. I work for a couple of companies that do the same. I have been burned in the past but most of the time it works out good. Sometimes, it's a matter of taking the chance or not getting the job.
Justin and I share each other's shops as needed.
I share the garage with Genny.
We work for 3 large restorers, two have truck mounts but none clean carpet or tile
Some of you are missing my point
A cleaning and restoration company asked us to move in and share thier building.
They want our rug and resto biz in echange for rent..
I already took a look, Davis is going over later today
That sounds too good to be true. You must have a lot of rugs for them. Your clientele would get them in some very nice homes but restoration work is hit & miss.
I wouldn't do it.
No idea what the mutual benefits would amount to
The only advice I would offer is to not commit to anything long term.
Until you know it's a solid fit
I share a shop with Matt. He's been in the business 19 years and has 2 AT’s. Its never caused any contention between us. We work together on jobs when needed. It can be a good thing if your both honest people in your dealings with others. Probably a dozen times per year we will both get called to estimate the same big commercial jobs. We usually discuss with each other how we bid it and the price. Many times whoever bid it first will share the square footage so the other doesnt have to measure it out. Some times i get it and sometimes he does. I have never let it bother me either way and same with him. We both have plenty of work..
