That has been around a very long time and now is coming back into style.

A few federal buildings and court houses have the base like that'd that with marble tiles.

I have been asked to strip a few that they applied wax to the floors and up the baseboards.

I am not sure if the construction or how it is put together is the same but the style appears the same.

The product has a plastic coating so the finish is somewhat protected from chemicals and scratches.
"In the case of anodized aluminum, do not use abrasive cleaning agents."

That is quoted on that site on the maintenance section. I'd be very hesitant to clean it. I didn't see anything that said there's a plastic coating

The stuff I've seen has a coating. You can feel it. It scratches off lol.
Yeah. the plastic is more resistant to scratching than bare or anodized aluminum. Still delicate and expensive. Like soft stone it isn't something to attack with your typical Stanley Steemer method.
