Re: american indian rug need help

It’s a dhurie from India

The whole thing is dirty anyway and needs a good washing you can spot it with an upholstery tool.. I’ve had good success with a mild alkaline spotter/ hot water and denatured alcohol ..then if needed rust remover, then a reducer. if I had it I would soak it out for an hour or so then work the spot.... I can’t stress how much more effective your spot removal can be with a virgin stain by just soaking it in neutral cleaner and water giving the fibers time to swell and cleaning solutions time to break up & loosen soils.

Well crap.. Hyde beat me to reply.. here is what I had already written when I wen to post.

Randy that doesn't look to be an American Indian rug, that looks more like a dhurrie from India or a zapotec indian rug from Mexico. Most Navajo rugs,,(the most common traditional native american indian flatweave rugs) do not have fringe. My gut feeling though is that this is a dhurrie. Check for colorfasteness. Both Navajo and zapotec are rarely colorfast while dhurrie are pretty rugged rugs.

The puke is going to be acidic from stomach acid and coloring is from whatever didn't agree with the dog's gut.

Check color fastness first then start your spotting procedures. My guess is that either way there is some protein in there.
