I recall Mark Shipper doing a hypothetical break down of cost per hour to run a TM that included replacement factored in.

Anyone recall that a few years ago on ICS?
Seemed like it came out to $12 bucks or so per hour

Wonder if one of you sharp fellows could recreate it?

Say you pay $20K for a new slide-in and plan to replace @5000 hours.

any of you guys bored enough to break it down?

Might of been $28, Rich.

But for some reason, I was thinking it was much lower cause I recall being surprised

BTW, i miss Shipper.
he came off as kind of gruff on the boards, but in reality was quite approachable and helpful.

I was a newbie on the boards and e-mailed him once about a WD w/mold job I was in over my head on.
He told me to give him a call the next morning.
A SUNDAY morning no less.
We talked for an hour or more about a lot of things.

Good guy

You were actually closer than I had, it is $11.22, but at the time I filled it out the cost of replacement of a TM was $20,000 which has gone up a bit.

I have not seen the breakdown you guys are discussing, was it published in one of the trades or a post on a board? It seems a difficult figure to nail down to me though.

Many variables on dollar amount to operate come to mind. For example someone who logs 1000 hours per year would have a considerably lower hourly cost than someone who logs 700 hrs a year.

Just thinking and typing.

It was a hypothetical break down , Rex.

One of the posters on ICS did it a few years ago in a post.

it was based on an average middle of the road scenario.

As you noted, it wouldn't apply or even be close for some, because of variables with each outfit

I was curious because I have been working on breaking it down myself, but got a headache separating fixed expenses from variables. :?
