Probably 40 years old..

Never tuned up..

Never seen an ounce of Stabil and the gas can sit for years..

Only ran once or twice a year..

Lives in a dusty, mouse turd infected shed that sees 100° and minus 20°..

Yet always starts on under 4 pulls and just runs and runs...

Sometimes you get lucky and get a good machine. I bought a lawnmower 12 years ago. I let it sit out all winter and get covered in snow every year. Never have changed the oil. Never had a problem with the carb plugging up. Starts first pull.

Good question. I'm jealous. My 1.5 yr old husqvarna riding mower that I maintain carefully is currently broke down. Frustrating. I hate cleaning carbs.

had an old "Monkey Wards" tiller Pop gave me 30 years ago.
It was probably 20 years old and well used when he gave it to me.

I used it for 10-15 years til I quit making a garden and sold it.
Might of changed the oil once .."might" of

it was stored outside under the pole barn overhang spring, summer, fall and winter

same deal, always started on second pull

also a Briggs engine

Low compression, simple engines will happily slurp old gasoline.
Better engines get fussy about particulates and floaties in the carburator.

You might consider running some Seafoam through it.
If it has a fuel petcock, shut it and let the engine suck the line dry whenever you are finished. If not, then install one.

Low humidity so the gas doesn’t have water to absorb. Plus the cap is more than likely not vented like basically every machine made today.

Could have used it last night at a car dealership job....storm took out the power and it had to get done....

I have 3 generators at home...one has not been started in years....bet I wouldn't get that lucky!

"Chirstine" off road lights and a light strapped to the Zipper MacGyver style for me

wow.....I'm surprised a tool gEEk and puddlelite pro doesn't have a couple battery powered LED work lights in the van ?????

.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

the expUrtz tell me it's corn liquor in gas that reeks havoc on carb seals when sitting long periods

don't know, but do know I had to replace a carb on a 12hp Briggs powered gen a few years ago.
It sat unused for years though with gas in it

before that long stretch unused, it started on second pull for years when used once or twice a year
Same for mowers, tillers, pressure washers, etc that have more than a weedeater size engine .
If they get "some" use every year, they seem to run fine year after year with no treatment or draining tank/running dry

Low horse power and low compression = low to no maintainence. The pistons will go up sideways but it will still go

If you purchase gas without ethanol it will last much longer and won't damage the carb. I use it in all my summer equipment and in my motorcycle. Hard to find and more expensive but worth the price. No problem with this gas. We have Wa Wa stations and some Shell handle it . jz

When I run my snow blower out of gas after the season I put some carb cleaner in it to get the gum out.

Yet, My damn BMW k1600 GT can sit in the garage for the winter and the Frickin $800 fuel pump goes bad because of the crappy Ca. gas.
