Wife calls this AM and says she went to my daughters work to drop off some items and came out to a flat. So I throw a floor jack and speed wrench in my vehicle and go to fix her flat.

Sure enough she has a bolt sticking out of the tread. Should be repairable, get it switched out and was on the last lug but my dumbass over tightened it and snapped it right off. :errf:

What a pain. Go to fix one problem and in the process cause yet another. : /

Can one be too Mighty? :headscratch:

Was the wife impressed by your strength?

    If yes, all is good.

That lug snapped because the last tire tech ran it home with a pneumatic lug wrench. You tell those penguinos that the air wrench is for taking them off and to tighten them with a hand lug wrench, properly torqued.

And yeah man, you rescued the missus. You are Mighty.

    The wife was not impressed.

However now that Stephen gave me the explanation I can redeem myself once again.

Ohhh how the Mighty always rises to the top! :winky:

I put a built in compressor and 5 gallon tank in my Cummins work truck and a plug kit. So i just fix the tire and air it up. Wheel studs that are overtightened are known to snap. Good try.

Did you get that tire plugged, or were you smart and got it patched?

Carrying a plug kit and a pump is just good sense. So is having it patched as soon as you can.

Next door to our business is an Off Road store. They do our mechanic work and we buy tires from them too. I took it to them, they fixed free since we buy from them. So I'm not sure but I think patched.

Stephen, I worked at a tire store while in school and I can tell you we never used a hand lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts. I never remember anyone in our shop breaking one either.

I have however broken several studs while using a 4-way hand lug wrench. We would use those when an impact gun wouldn't budge the lug nut. Its way too easy to really torque using those, even for a weakling like me.
