Weirdest call ever...

Lady calls from the phone book.

sez she is renting a house and what would cause maggots to be in her carpet.

I replied, trash, rotting meat.

She sez she vac the area and more and more show up..

I'm at a loss.

I ask, Are you sure maggots?
Are they moving? Could it be rice?
She replies. Yes moving, and the areas is not damp, or dirty.

I'm then grasping at straws..

Ant larva?
Termites?

She did say she has seen a lot of carpenter ants.

I close the call with, she needs to call her land lord, and have them send out an exterminator.

If it had been a slow day, I would have offered to just come look.

Attagenus Carpet Beetles

Larvae look like worms and feed on dander, and hair. It could be any number of carpet beetle larvae species. If the carpet is wool, then the number of possible species is more diverse.

The absence of high moisture is quite common with a number of types.

Yes, call the exterminator first. Then clean the carpet after the infestation is identified and dealt with.

Out in the more barren areas I find a lot of little tiny crawling things. They come out of everywhere and hang out on the carpet. They are kinda red, but not centipedes or millipedes. You find them dead everywhere. Vacuum up tons of them.
