I read something recently that said standard synthetic automotive oil isn't optimal..
I use Honda synthetic oil. I think there's something about not having zinc or something in auto oil
That's it, Zinc additives
I remember Larry ranting about zinc being the hidden treasure in the oil for air cooled engines
Just run the proper weight Kohler oil for the temperature environment you are running in.
I assume you are asking for the 370?
dumb question....what does the engine manufacture recommend?
Just 10/30, no particular brand or type
here's what Briggs says
here's what I say
if you change oil and filter regular when you're s'posed to, it doesn't much madder what you use.
They ALL work
I use full syn in everything because it's superior lubrication in every way compared to conventional oil
It's a machine
Machines love lubrication
I prefer the best lubrication available
Are you a 50 or 100 our guy?
I start thinking about it at 50
but more often than not, by the time I actually get a round tuit, it's 75 or more
lawn and garden stuff, generators, pressure washers, etc every spring regardless of hours
but more often than not, it's summer before I get around to that too
don't over think it, BigSlim
Heat/lack of cooling air flow is far more important to air cooled engine life than chosen oil band/type
