No way. Government subsidized businesses are not good investments in my opinion.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have. (often misquoted as being said by Thomas Jefferson)

Lutz is a former GM exec so take what he says with a grain

May hold a short position as well

TSLA is ridiculously valued with no earnings to justify the stock price

It's the auto industry , low margins and too many players

Tesla is a niche market people purchase to make a statement "I'm rich"

At the end of the day the majors will copy or follow their lead and Teslas stock will cool off

Out of business is doubtful. Acquired perhaps

their stock may seem overpriced based on current income, however you invest money in a company based on their future potential.
The GM's opinion is biased and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Lutz, as a former GM exec, was a member of perhaps the biggest "circle jerk of arrogance" that destroyed Michigan.
When I googled Tesla, 5 dealerships popped up in the bay area.
Tesla also has a partnership with Panasonic at their Reno area plant. they have improved on the current 18650 batteries used in current models.

With a stock price of $315-320 I will probable make the same mistake I always do.. I'll wait for the price to comedown and regret it when the price goes up.
I made the same mistake with SF housing and Not buying Apple when Fred told us too. :hopeless:

You obviously didn’t watch the link I posted. Showed their new government subsidized truck. It will probably charge off their government subsidized solar panels. And will deliver rockets from the government subsidized SpaceX.

Musk is not an entrepreneur. He’s a guy that likes to take billions from the government. When this whole Musk bubble bursts people are going to be scratching their heads and comparing him to Bernie Madoff. Just watch.

It all comes down to margin and market potential tho

Apple profit margin is 37-39% consistently per quarter

Musk seems like a mad scientist with all the money he needs in his personal life and uses Tesla as his imagination playground

He's in an industry with historical low profit and isn't even remotely close to break even

That's not to say people can't make money on this tulip play but a $245,000 2020 roadster that can go 0-60 in under 2 seconds could crash harder faster than their stock ultimately will

    Tesla: $315.25
    P/E: None
    Earnings per share: -$8.52
    Total shares outstanding: 168 million
That’s a huge operating loss ladies and gents. I don’t see how thats sustainable.

    Apple: $169.94
    P/E: 18.5
    EPS: $9.21
    Total shares outstanding: 5.13 Billion
    That’s a whole lotta profit!!!!!

Did you invest in APPL back when it was posting large losses?
Or all those years AMZN had losses because it was investing in infrastructure, warehouses or hiring engineers for WAS & AI to run Alexa? Most investors missed AMZN because they were starring at a spreadsheet & trying to compare amazon to traditional retailers...what traditional Wall Street metrics did amazon fit into?

If you are going to make comparisons like APPL vs. TSLA or APPL vs XYZ you will never invest in a small\fast growing disruptive company.

Nothing wrong with your logic. It’s guys like you and me that move markets. I would be shorting while you’re long. Only one can be right.

In your opinion, what makes Tesla disruptive Jim ?

AMZN invented their markets with incredible year over year growth

At present TSLA they borrow billions to gross millions

They are selling automobiles at a loss ... and a 20-50% premium price to its competition

there is no moat to their business

If and/or When battery power becomes the chosen mode of new vehicles everyone will be there unless they have some proprietary battery technology that I'm unaware of
