I was wondering if you were to wire the vac motor seperatly on a pile lifter to not turn on, if it would make a suitable encap machine??

Vac motors are wired separately on Certified pile lifters. We used just the brush part many times for agitation. It could be used but there is only about a 2" x 14" area in contact with the carpet at any one time. It would likely work but slower than Cimex or other better units with much more surface contact.

We've used our Cert pile brush for encRapping, Steve

Just unplug the vac motor and clean out the sand trap often.
We've also plugged the TM vac hose over the vac port of the PB.

IMHO, rotary and scrub bonnets does a better job appearance wise, though

that thing looks like a tinker toy, the reason I ask about the pile lifter is it would be nice if one machine could do both things so I don't have to buy another, I guess I am in the unique posistion that I mostly do water damage and not a whole lot of cleaning revenue, but cleaning is where it all started for me and I like to be able to do all I need to

"that thing looks like a tinker toy"

It's light, Steve, but they're pretty well built.
I had one it held up to our crew abuse.
MUCH better than a grandi groomer to agitate pre-spray.

I found mine in a rehab we were doing and it got it for free.

few years latter I traded it for a new (demo unit) POS Terri-Towel machine.

I've regretted it ever since.

My Terri-Towel machine is buried in the basement some where.
I might use it in 10 or 15 years when it's time to refinish the oak floors in my house.

or if i can find some fool....er..guy who would give me a few hundred for it.
Actually, it wouldn't be a bad deal for a hardwood floor re finisher, as that's what it is, a rectangle floor sander minus the vac attachment.
It ain't crap for a VLM carpet cleaning though.
An OP machine kicks it's a$$ all over the place as far as speed and cleaning efficacy
