Dirk:

Mostly we tried to orient the homeowner on what they needed to do before we came:

1. Advise the Technician of any furniture that needed to be moved in a certain way. (Weak legs, loose tops, etc.)

2. Recommend vacuum carpets before crew arrives. (It can't hurt.)

3. Pin up any full length draperies so they are at least 6" off the floor. Also pin up any skirts of upholstered furniture that are touching the floor.

4. Remove all breakable items from furniture that will have to be moved during the cleaning.

5. Any small pieces of furniture that can be moved off of the carpets and stored elsewhere will speed processing time and return the carpets to their normal use sooner.

6. Please call the Technicians attention to any unusual spots and identify the staining agent if possible.

7. For your pet's peace of mind (and ours!) please put them in a safe place where our cleaning won't disturb them.

8. If possible, please have an outside water faucet available for us to turn on.

9. After care information:
a. Please leave your plastic tabs and blocks under your furniture for 24 hours after cleaning. If it is physically difficult for you to remove these inform your Technician and we will arrange someone to stop by the following day to help you.

b. For your children's and pet's safety please do not let them play or lay on the carpets until they are completely dry.

c. Some deep-set oily type stains will be removed during cleaning but over a period of time they may resurface from the carpet backing. If this happens, just give us a call. We have a special reduced r reduced rate for these "re-occurring stains".

Dirk, most customers will not completely comply with the above instructions. But it never hurts to ask!

PS A great way to get the customer's e-mail address (which you should be doing) is to tell them you would like to e-mail them a confirmation letter along with a check-list of how to get ready for the carpet cleaning.

PPS Sorry, no Special Report on this subject! But it IS an idea!
