Quick question on exactimate

do you when coding out mitigation part, do you charge the extraction code plus the hourly for the techs onsite, or do you just charge the per sf price. example 500 sf at .xx plus 2 hrs at xxxx. that is how I was taught to do it. just wanted to check? any input is appreciated

It would have to be an unusual circumstance to get an hourly tech charge approved. Xactimate was made to standardize the price so that contractors couldn't just charge time+material. You have to be able to perform the function efficiently. Only hour charges that don't get much push back are equip setup/contents manipulation and on larger jobs supervisor hours

Unit cost, will allow you to come out best if you can move through the task quickly. However in small spaces, complicated structure cleaning like attics or floor joists, I'd use T&M. You won't make a killing but you won't loose you ass either.
