Should I rent an office for Google maps?

I live about 10 minutes from Athens, Ga. which has a population of about 130,000. The surrounding area (within 30 minutes) has about 300,000. The small city where I live has about 7,000. I want to show up in the Athens searches, not just my small area. I can rent a small (one room) office in Athens for about $300 per month. Would you do it just for the address?

I've noticed when I search for services Google maps shows up with a little line at the bottom of the page that says, "view web results". Hmm. Not good.

DANG STEVIE! I was in Athens just last week. One of my customers moved there and wanted me to clean before they moved in. If I knew a MB'er was that close, I'd have called you for lunch.

To answer your question...yes, I would if I were you. Athens is too far for me, but since you're that close, it's worth trying for 6months. Especially if you're very active on Google+, and have updated reviews. How many other carpet cleaners are in Athens? Do you think it'd be hard to get on the first page of the local listings with the number of other competitors?

I'm using my home address. I have a PO box but that doesn't help.

I don't think you want to keep moving your address. It will mess up something on Google making it harder to find you. You need consistency.

I would just move the whole thing. We had that problem 5 years ago. Moved from Zionsville to Indianapolis our business doubled.

I was talking with my friend Joe yesterday. Watch this video he did on this topic. Your location matters we did this for a town 2 years ago started a second office did nothing for us. Wasted a whole year of rent.
