At least that is how it has been for me.

Most new ads that come out seem to start off slow and then build.
This new ATT thing I am doing hasn't hit like I wanted it to...course I am an optimistic monster.... but I still have faith.

Because of the changes made...there were a lot...some things haven't even gotten started.
They are good about not charging me until things are up and running though.

This is one of my best months ever but not because of this ad of course.
I have had a lot of repeat business...a ton of referrals...thanks Kevin...and a few new little ads that have been working great.

The "free" phone book ads haven't hit yet either..or at least I don't think they have. lol.

Everyone who is asked "how did you hear about us" or "how did you find us" says
"I found you on the internet"
Even when diggin further, it's tough to find what search engine they used.

I will hear "Google" or "Yellow Pages" almost everytime with a new customer.

How are your ads working out?

I get a few job each week from the web. But, my best marketing by far has brought in over 6 K for each of the last 2 months.

Can't argue the thing works and it is working quite well for me and it would likely work just as well or even better for most members of this board.

Waiting for the sarcastic the reply from Murdock.

You're right murdock. I wasn't thinking about that but I have looked before.

If they go to certain websites and get my name and number from them and never hit my websites then I can't be sure.

As long as they keep calling.

Oh, the paid ads on sites give me stats as well but they are always different from my website stats...so who's lying?

See Dave this is where we differ. You think $6,000 a month is good. I think $6,000 a week is. You have been doing it for 25+ yrs. I have been doing it full time for 2.5 yrs.

I am home with the kids today and I am making money

Hey Matt,

That sounds awesome, if you are doing that much in only 2.5 years of business. What are your top 3 ways to get new customers? Or if you can explain how a new guy like me can duplicate what your doing right?

Thanks,
Eric

The only ad I'm running right now is online advertising. For a partime tile/grout and stone restoration biz it's working great. I just landed 2 well paying travertine jobs in Incline Village NV, one was for an interior designer which will bring more repeat biz. I learned a lot of rough advertising lessons when I was in EDH CA, yellow page phone books, in my eyes, are only good for emergency H20 damage and you better be #1-3.

Yes, I am still not an advocate of yellow page books. They just don't work well for carpet cleaning IMO.
This is why they are giving these away. Their thought process is probably "we'll get him to pay for it next year."

It still all about online ads for new customers.

When you say the yellow pages are giving them away for what? 50% off? Or is it entirely free for a certain amount of time?

ATT included it with my online advertising because I am spending a ton of money with them.
I increased my areas and presence and all that.
The other books are charging $300.00 a month for what would have normaly been a $1000.00 a month ad.

I did a small ad in Valley yellowpages because you can't get on their internet ads with it. The internet ads for valley are basically a copy of the print ad.

Yeah you might as well be in the books if their giving them to you like that. Valley YP is so desperate, I hear. My friend in Orangevale just opened a pizza joint and they have been all over him like a cheap suit, I warned him not to do it, they almost convinced him to get a 1/2 page ad, lucky for him he took my advice. Hey, if yer in Ovale, stop at STROBELLI'S PIZZA on Madison & Main in the center with the TACO HELL, he has an awesome deep dish, he's from Chicago, so he makes great pizza's. Anyways, I might go back with yellowpages.com, maybe, I'm still pissed at AT&T. They keep bugging me out here, maybe I can talk 'em down on the price. My thing now is to create a large internet presence.
Have a good day, Bill

I'll give them a try. Love some Chicago Pizza.

Att creates a pretty good web presence.
They send a good amount of calls my way.

I have been in business longer than 2.5 yrs. I have been full time for 2.5 yrs. I just get out in my community and promote my company. I have signs in businesses windows, I cornered the market on kid places such as karate studios, Boys and girls club, gymnastics studios and I advertise in there to their customers.

I do alot of volunteering of my time. Donating money and gift certificates doesn't draw business(except maybe the person who won)

Oversized postcards(quality mailing lists), val-pak and window signs would probably be the biggest 3 new customer draws. Right now it is my website because I don't do much advertising now. I built up my client base and do alright through them. Now I need to market to my client base.
