First time in a long time we are going in to a week with no jobs booked. July is traditionally quieter as its a big vacation month and people are away, and spending their money on that. We had a killer July the past two years and this one is shaping up to be the numbers we pulled 5+ years ago.

I've been tied up with some other things that have taken my focus off the business the past few months. Not keeping up as well with my marketing, Facebook posts in groups etc. I am sure that has a lot to do with it. I can't imagine it is all of it, but if it is, what a lesson learned. I'm getting back into it, so we will see what impact it makes.

Decided to send out Super Summer Sale email through Service Monster (50% off the first two rooms and 50% off couch cleaning. 10% off additional services work must be completed by 7/31). Just copied a special I did last year and sent it out. 3000+ emails.....before they even were all done being sent, the phone rang with someone who got the email. One said she has 'been meaning to call' but the email prompted her to do so. Keep in touch with existing clients!

It's been just about 2 hours and I've had 4 calls and one email wanting to schedule.I'm sure to get more this evening and tomorrow. No doubt we will have a decent rest of the month.

50% off scares me

It's only 50% off the first two rooms! $90 for two rooms instead of $180. Then regular rates. Rarely does anyone do only 2 rooms. And if they do, they likely add on protection.

Couch is 1/2 price too (normally $175 for stands Couch. Does not apply to Loose back pillows. They still are charged $20-$40 per pillow depending on size) ....but guess what, they have matching pieces or it's part of a sectional..... that isn't 1/2 price.

This scared thebhell out of me the first time o did it. Thought we wouldn't even make our min charge on most jobs. Not the case. We still had a very high average invoice. People did much more than just the promo.

Ugh. I hate cleaning at discounted prices. I removed the coupon page from my website. I would be pissed off all day knowing I had a job scheduled and they were going to hand me a coupon. I also stopped taking in area rugs until winter. This is the first weekend I've taken off in months and thats only because my tm was just installed in the Promaster. The phone is still going nuts. I tried to refer some jobs to my buddy @TConway but he won't take them for some odd reason :)

But in the winter when slow I'd much rather have discounted work, than nothing for the crews to do.

Huge difference between 1 man show and keeping crews busy.. Easy to get overwhelmed with one man band.. Hard to consistently keep crews going while upholding quality..

Most here don't have to consistently feed the monster as they work from home..

I'm $100 minimum for two rooms $40 a room after and I still lose jobs over price.

Lots of $20 a room guys around here. I do get some of the price shoppers back the next round though.

I don't do discounts, I'll wait till they are ready.

Holy smokes! I wish we could get those kind of prices.

It's all relative to where you live and the demographic you serve. We charge more. Our cost of living is more.

Remember....I live where we work. 3nd higest county in the state for income. We service the 2nd higest as well and parts of the 1st.

People really do love discounts...just like those groceries coupon where you can make great saving..as long you spend enough. House always wins. Just make sure the house always wins while making your client feel like a winner when they really didnt win anything... Thats how casinos does it around here.
