Ken,

You're not eager to get out of Detroit, are you? :)

Ken, I've only heard good things about the hooker bar here on MB.

Question about the trade show, can you enjoy it all in one day or should a 1st timer allow 2 days?

Any good things you have heard are greatly exagerated Jim. As for the trade show I have never spent more than 2 hours or so total, but I am extremely ADHD and really go more for the vegas experience with an uncle sam discount.

Steve- it's brutal outside and then freezing inside, my body gets so confused in Vegas.

If you are serious about buying/choosing new equipment you really should devote two days. There are a lot of booths even if you detour Scotty Warrington's stomping grounds.

PS And if you can free up the hour before the trade show opens at 4:00 PM on Wednesday come by at 3:00 for my "How to Sell Your Business and Retire While You Are Still Young Enough to Enjoy It" no-high-pressure-to-sell-you-more-information presentation.

Either way, be sure to stop by Jon-Don's booth and introduce yourself!

Jim I would be willing to bet anything related to carpet cleaning is going to be boring as hell. Now bring a few friends, hit the casinos up with a modest amount of cash, watch a few shows, sample some fine dinning etc. and you will have a blast. I have never really given any thought to going to Vegas, BUT if you promised to bring your unbelievably hot daughter I would make the trip. Just kidding. It's still too far, but your daughter is very nice. You did something right.

Steve's reply is from a vendor's point of view, mine from an attendees point of view. Take your pick on whose advice to follow.

Ken
Ps seriously if you are a thing person and like to touch and try lots of different pieces of equipmment you could probably spend 2 days at the trade show and have a blast. I get nervous and glassy eyed around equipment.

"Nervous and glassy eyed?" I thought that was just you reacting to me at the Jon-Don booth, Ken! Seriously though, all you gearheads take note- Ken is living proof that equipment/ technical prowess on their own are not the ticket to success.

PS Despite Ken's assertion to the contrary, Jim, I'm not really a vendor of anything except the SFS seminar. I don't even have a Jon-Don catalog down here in the Dominican Republic and my current product knowledge on what we carry is almost zero. But I remember the first industry trade show I attended in 1976. I was like a kid in a candy store. Plan on spending two days- you will need it.

This year will be my 4th consecutive connections. I always enjoy 2 or 3 of the seminars, the rest are infomercials. It is a great place to network and check out new products and even try them out. There are always 1 or 2 surprise products out there and with a little gambling on a players club card, your hotel and meals are cheap or free!

The High Chapperal
Hooker bar really raised their drink prices.

We may have to find a alternate dive bar.

Unless Yappy shows up with his eight million.
