Paul Richardson was a big Steam Genie distributor, and his White Magic company ran it's own ads in the trade press as "the East coast distributor" for SG thru the late seventies.

Our Family had a Big Red.

My dad also converted and made many direct drives for ourselves and friends in the 70's. But he was using Chem lawn units. Went through their junk piles pulling parts... Then went home and started to make mounting brackets, drive shafts and clutches and mounting brackets. Couple of those units still going

I used a Big Red in the 80's. Powerful machine with it's #5 blower and 50hp diesel engine, lot's of heat. Biggest problem we had was the small recovery tank and pump out. It was in an Ford extended van.

I had them put a Chem shelf on the right side only..... It leaves the left wheel well open for area rugs.... There is a space between the wall and the back of the water pond to stuff extra long rugs into.....

Somebody asked me what mileage and machine hours are on my first one.
17500 miles
769 machine hours

I asked, thank you. The reason I asked, was to see how far you drove that thing and how many hours you put on it, to convince yourself that it's worth putting a couple buckets of your money into another one already.

I will say, I'm surprised that only that many hours and you were sold on another one.
