Which one do you recommend?
How difficult is it for a beginner to use/interpret? Are classes necessary?

Cost?

Some of the manufacturers have on-line classes available. Extech and FLIR do, maybe others.

The cost as really come down. There are entry level cameras for under $3,000 now. A few years back, prices were $15,000 to $20,000.

The Extech I5 IR camera is a fantastic camera for the price. It lists at $2995.00 and is a very capable camera.

The lower priced units will get you what you want. I think there are some even with the fusion software.

The fusion saves a digital and a thermal.

Steve,

I got the Flir Bcam SD a few months back and I'm really happy with it. I bought it online from a company called Professional Equipment for 5k. It came with a free online course thats really informative and will get ya started.
