What is your preference when it comes to floor design?

Do you like a floor that grabs your attention when entering a room before the decorations and furnishings?

Or is your preference a floor that is just there and is maybe the 5th or 6th feature you notice in a room?

I'd like your answer, not your wife's.

I have seen some floors that are real attention getters but they have been in homes with decor to match. Personally I like a good quality floor in more of a neutral color. Add color with furnishings and other decor. Easier to change them than to change your floor.

As long as it doesn't darken a room, nor make it feel unwelcoming...those are the only two things on my mind

The two need to compliment each other IMO.
Otherwise it just looks bad with new to old together

Just do what your wife says.

Unless she wants white carpet. Then spritz her with cold water and say “NO! NO!”
