the guys were using the truckmounts and hand held sx-7 tools to clean a bunch of these this week. they were having problems getting the epoxy grout lines back to a satisfactory level of appearance. i'm pretty sure they were using prochem grout cleaner in spray bottles and doing a bit of scrubbing with some small stiff bristle brushes, then rinsing.

can anyone recommend a product that will target the cleaning of the epoxy grout lines in particular, without damaging the travertine? any vertical tiled suface cleaning tips in general anybody could share would be really helpful?

thanks.

If it's 100% Epoxy and not a Epoxy/cement mix and still not coming clean, something is wrong.

Maybe mold behind it.

Can you get pictures?

This is a common misconception. Epoxy grouts will stain like normal grout. Certainly it's not as porous but when it gets to the situation that you are describing, color sealing is about the only option to restore. If it was grout properly the color seal will have a lower rate of failure in a shower. Given that it's an epoxy grout, it may an epoxy color seal.

how wide were grout lines, sanded or unsanded?

how do you knw they are epoxy?

were they tested

what color grout? was discoloration lighter or darker that grout color? is it something on the grout, or more of in it?

my question? why would you install "true" epoxy grout in a steam room, you would want similiar vapor transmission as the field tile, travertine, and seal with penetrant.

there is a possibility that the good stuff(mold) is stuck behind the e-grout and translucing thru it.

many question
