The property was in vacation mode. Meaning it could only release 50 gallons of water and remaining water in pipes. We estimated tap valve sprayed for approximately 4 to 6 days.

Those are sometimes the worst losses we see. Homeowners away for the holiday and a washer hose or toilet line breaks.

Not to mention those that turn the temp way down to save on the heating bill.

Those are the types of losses they have been denying around here.

Saying home owner did not take due diligence to prevent damage by shutting off water, being gone too long....

Don't know how many of those in the past 5 years were denied!

Insurance companies around here don't want to pay and you would get into the project and find out....

Had 4 of those with denied claims.

Had to get a public adjuster for each one of those clients.

Claims still not settled on all 4 I am hearing.

Just had one 3 weeks ago....went to the water loss...DENIED.

They said there policy had NO WATER DAMAGE COVERAGE AT ALL :eekk:

Adjuster in a panic and hoping we hadn't done any work because he had told them to get somebody in....

Mark, even if there is no coverage the further damage to the structure must be mitigated and cleaned up.

Money still to be made any way I see it.

is the customer going to allow a $10,000 dollar problem to turn into $100,000 dollar problem? I know some do or just flat out don't have the money but we work something out with all customers that want to work with us.

Claim coverage or not, we still want the work and will be paid somehow, now or later.

Usually the Northerners I deal with up here than decide to do it themselves,

Toss you off the job and won't pay you for the work you already performed....

And then talk about what a crook you are for charging those crazy prices.

Just the area we live in.

Totally agree with all restoration pricing as you have to pay for a fire department to be available when needed...

Same for us, but we just had a couple of bad restoration apples as you know that made it difficult to do the work around here.

Was a good ride while it was happening on a positive note...but....

Carpet Cleaning is my deal now.....

Insurance companies.....I just don't dig them right now....or the couple restoration companies that are making the problems.
