They probably got suckered into buying faux silk otherwise silk is silk. A real silk rug on the floor?

Also since it's a rug...it could be removed from the large humidity controlled space and brought back to your rug cleaning shop...if you thought that was necessary.
Let us know how long it took to remove the spots.

That "water stain" seems awfully dark to be just that. I'm thinking there was something in the water (like coffee) or its browning from the cotton in the material.

BIG issue here Mike:
There is all sorts of "stuff" that could be in the water from the roof, including staining materials from wood and other products. This is very likely a permanent stain. IF this were a synthetic rug, you could hit it with your nuclear peroxide, but it isn't.
I don't give this one much hope.
If they throw out that rug, can I have it? I would like to use it as a down payment on a flipper house. This carpet cleaning gig is tearing up my Tom Cruise-ish body.
