Distilled water...a neutral spotter...a mildly acidic tannin spotter...3% hydrogen peroxide.

Nothing stronger. Make it explicitly clear that 3% means what you buy at the pharmacy, not at Sally's.

Maybe the water came through the ceiling in such a way that it avoided all wood, adhesives, coatings, paint, and dirt.

And maybe you'll see unicorns prancing down the street.

Both equally likely.

Have you ever seen a war movie where someone is shot in the torso and they are pouring sulfa on the wound and giving them cpr while the blood is gushing out of their chest?

That's about where that rug is as far as the chance of successful stain removal.

Still, there is a chance of course....but darn slim Mike.

I'd suggest starting with light abrasion - use the side of a nail file or something similar to see if you can scrape any residue from the surface of the fiber before getting it wet. I'd use a light solvent next, just because it won't damage the fiber, and lightly apply to an area of the stain to see if any color transfers to your spotting towel.

If the stars are aligned, there will be no backing on the rug and you can attach a Spot Claw to the back so your Jim recommended spotting solutions will be drawn straight through and have no chance to spread.

Can't get it out? Suggest reducing the size of the rug by a foot. They probably won't miss it.

Sounds like good advice from Jim.

A strategy during show & tell might be to keep the the "spot" as dry as possible
as you begin and move ahead.
Dab the liquid agents on...or lightly mist
blotting a lot as you go. One gets the
sense that the owner and the (exotic)
carpet-rug would sigh relief if all works
@ $1000 or more? No kidding.

I would use compound on the spots. Agitate gently with microfiber towel and vac up with the Porta Power. Just the spots. If that didn’t work then everything Jim and Oz said. Good luck.

Gently/gently they go (as you know).
Plus keep checking with Pendleton.

As long as they are of a service heart...and not wearing a super man T shirt/mentality...and stay as dry as possible ...(so as not to lose control of the
loosened soil)...and keep in mind that there is plenty of time to get it right
on $1000 spot removal gigs...odds are
they'll do as well as possible. Prayer does work...I think.

its a water stain so the bulk of it should be able to be removed with water (it wasnt caused from getting wet but how long it took to dry)

any tannins or residues can be addressed after

It's a Panda...meanwhile spot-sport-Spencer shared:

....silk water spots
---silk is unforgiving
...a liquid spotter has decent chance
of working
...what's there to lose?

After much back and forth as suspected the Specisal Dilk is infact Jute.

The manufacturer recommended some poor rug fag out of SF.

The house manager prefers to let him fail so that she nor I take the heat for the failure...

Thank gawd.

This is the best outcome.
