As owner and BDA for my little company, it is easy to bid work, run jobs and train elves. What isn't so easy is to follow up and call old customers or stay in touch.

Enter Andrew elf, my foreman. Today enroute to Trussvill we had a business meeting. He suggested we book ourselves off for Monday, compile a list and start calling. I can do it if somebody eggs me on and holds me accountable..

So he has been promoted to Accountability Support Supervisor. No fancy hat, but maybe more business, yay!

You HAVE to do it.

I TRY to allocate Friday mornings for cold calls.

Lunch with the trouble 'n strife.

Quotes and reminder calls/emails in the afternoon.

I also have 3-4 hours, one day a week, set aside for L.B.D.'s in different areas.

Unfortunately, plans don't always go as planned.

I HAVE to start saying NO !!!!! when someone wants work done on a Friday.

:yoda:

About 4 months ago I had the grand ideal that I would use Friday's to do office catch up and marketing. For the past 6 weeks we have been running both trucks with full schedules on Friday! Maybe now I need to "plan" Wednesdays as office days lol

Do cold calls work for you? Is this for past customers you are calling? When I worked for the casinos in the marketing department, they would make us cold call and invite people to slot tournaments etc. I hated it. If people were interested they would respond to the mailers or call in themselves. That's how I feel with our business. No cold calls, but we do email/eddm.
