It depends, in my small town you can get a 2600 - 3200 sq ft 15-20 year old house on a golf course for 320-370k. Go to the town north of me and you'll pay 490 - 520k

They had to drop the price because you can pitch your tent anywhere in Seattle.
No need to buy your own campsite.

I'm my parts, you'd get a parking spot for a bicycle.... No, a monocycle.

More precisely on my street a fixer upper will be around a $900grrr.

And this thread is a perfect example of why you can't compare pricing of work from one region to another.

375$ will get a very nice cookie cutter type, 4000 sqft Mcmansion. Maybe 1/2 acre.

Closer you get to the lake(Michigan) the more the price goes up. The home below is about an hour north of chicago and pretty close to the lake. Very old money lives there, lots of it. About 50 minutes east from us.

I'll never forget going out to a fancy dinner in San Deigo on some boardwalk type place, talking with the little server hottie about living in S.D. and she told us she lives 2 miles from the beach and paid 2500 for a studio she shared with 3 other people...

It almost seemed worth it, what a beautiful place.

I'd go live on an island before I shack up with a bunch of other people.

I did like California though too.
