If you had to do it all over again what TM would you buy and why?

What TM would you least be likely to buy and Why?

If you could not spend over $20K on a machine only what would you buy?

Thanks

man that's a tough one.

Probably another Powermatic.
Been running PMs for 11 years.
I know them inside and out and I haven't had the horror story problems many have seemed to have.

Who's local to you and what do they sell?
If your not mechanical enough to change worn, broken or failed parts, and do all your own scheduled maintenance, (or don't have time or care to do it) a local disty is VERY important

probably the only TM I wouldn't consider would be a Bane.
Not that they're cheap built, just lack heat, vac and PSI.

Haven't heard anything good about Namco and Chemtex.
They have a pretty poor reputation

If I wanted a slide in I'd look real hard at the Master Blend El Diablo.

PTO I would look at Vortex unless heat flow and recovery was no a big issue I'd look at a Butler because so many like their dependability.

Steamway Mastermatic 4100LX

Awesome single wand performance.
Very easy to work on and maintain.

Did some of youinz read this part...

"If you could not spend over $20K on a machine only"

Pretty sure Butler, V and AT don't qualify

If you know where I can get any of those new for $20K, put me down for 10.
Thanks

I'd call Ken Snow and pickup one of his units. I think he turns them over every 5 years...sometime around January or February. Either that or I'd check out the classified section on the Butler website.

From my understanding Ken has a guy that fixes all the body work, refurbs the TM, and paints the vans factory white.

I heard of that WM issues too when I researched.
Even the local dist didn't recommend them.

I have a Whitemagic Triton and it runs great. No problems, quality parts, and good service.

Fox makes probably the simplest, most reliable truckmount

I have seen LOTS of problems with

1. ACE
2. Powerclean

My choice would be:

1. Whitemagic
2. FOX

Rick Freitas has a White Magic and I have never heard anything negative coming from him on his machine. He is quite happy with it.

I've ran a Steamway Mastermatic for years and luv it.
I know that machine inside and out. But it's time for an upgrade.

I'll be buying a new unit in Feb.
Been looking hard at the Butler system because it seems to be the most tech friendly. Flip a couple of switches and you're in business.

I like that because I plan on being off the truck by the end of next year, one way or the other.

But I do not like the idea of giving up the heat for convenience.
I'm also a little queasy whole the van driven thing.I've always owned slide ins.

Butler owners do seem to be well pleased though.

The larger truckmounts are for O/O's in my opinion.
I don't think I would want a tech driving it or being responsible for it.

If I don't buy a Butler,it will be a Powermatic.

I had alot of trouble with my White Magic Commander overheating when I first got it, but I run it at a lower rpm around 3100 and it only overheats if I sit the wand down for about 10 minutes. Can't stop and talk to the customer,,gotta keep that water flowing.

Because of a nearby dealer and simplicity I will go with a Judson next time. Anyone seen thier new HX unit?

I'm not sure how Ken prices his units, but I'm sure it depends on vehicle mileage, tm hours, etc.... If I remember right....usually between $18,000 and $23,000. Some might be a little higher / lower.

Send him an email and he'll let you know all about 'em.

If you can afford new....get a Butler. I definitely don't regret getting a Butler!!!! I'll buy another one in 07.

Jim, you can take your wand and make a bypass with a ball valve. When you sit it down open it and it will not overheat.
...this has been my experience and is my opinion...and my heartache that has cost me enough to buy another tm in the 18 months I have owned it...

I'd look at the El Diablo for under $20k.

I have a Bluewave from BL and love it. With all the extra stuff I got it ended up well over $20k though. I'd get another one in a heartbeat.

Rob, someone posted a picture recently of a bypass wand. I am looking into it. I did have one of my pods fail about a year ago. I keep my rpm down and it helps alot. I still get good dry times thanks to my greenglide.

I called WM about the problem and nobody had a clue.

Butler.. if 20k was my limit.

Like caes said.. a firet time TM purchaser esp..
get a refurbed one. I have done it.

its about 95% of what a new one is.. guarantee in hand..
and they are about 4k less.. than a new one.. which is 19, 995.00

I wouldnt get their wand or hoses.. and save yet another grand.

I'm getting exactly what I just suggested.. but with a higher heat option.
very soon.

So i'll back what I suggest.

Tweak that new rig.. with some 2.5'' hose.. and the higher heat... and you match the AT and V.. for owner op, one man crew machines, for hose runs of under 150'.. which is 99% of my work.. maybe 100%..

Why spend 80k... when with a van.. you can spend 42k?... its a no brainer..
