White Powder On Berber carpet.

I was at a custys house yesterday because he says his sun porch carpet has powder in it. It's a berber, patterned, and it's in a sun room that isn't always heated, but gets extreme heat in the summer. It is built on a crawl space that is not vented to the outside, has plywood subflooring, and is heated via ducts by forced air gas furnance. The floor is insulated by fiberglass insulation. It looks to me like the latex is disintigrating and working it's way to the surface of the carpet. I didn't pull back the carpet to see whats under there.

And no....he says he has never used a powdered deodorizer or cleaner.

Any ideas what this is??

.....but I've never cleaned that carpet, in fact, it's never been cleaned. This guy lives by himself, and is a clean freak. And it's only about 3 years old.....

My guess would be the same as yours RW. I'll ask some inspectors and see what I come up with. :wink:
