I spent 7 hours yesterday polishing out a shower. Cerium oxide for the glass and granite sides, compound for the travertine upper (soft sheen) and the floor was a hot mess.

    Black marble, 4" tiles.
Efflorescence everywhere, lime buildup of 1/16" to 1/8" thick along edges and the grout where the shower heads dripped.
I scraped and scrubbed. Used Renew and a concrete brightener. Honed from 120-800, polished out and it looked lovely.

Until it dried completely. Then I could still see scratches, and significant lime still at the edges.

Gotta redo it. Now I am sad. My back hurts, my arms hurt, my neck hurts and my feelings are hurt. And I seem to weigh 700 pounds.

    Never happens to me.

In fact, when most blondes see me they grab their purses and head in the opposite direction, proving that they are not as stupid as people think.

I hate doing my own showers in the house and they are made of plastic.

I was cleaning brick pavers in a school bathroom today and they gave me enough problems that i don't really want to hear about yours.

learned a key lesson, especially with black marble, before you transition out of the more aggressive diamonds , dry completely and check for stray scratches ....

I use a torch to dry the joints when doing black marble tiles of any size. Lippage can be a killer.

IMG_0211.JPG IMG_0212.JPG IMG_0214.JPG Ted all they really wanted was the lime encrustation removed. Being an idiot, I thought I could dissolve it and dove right in. Totally forgot how scratches fracture down into the stone.
I used a multitool to grind the edges on the second day, with acceptable results. Then repolished all the way up. The customers were delighted, even if I wasn't.
