Why the h*** would they want the removed carpet?

Probably because they have a refund guarantee based upon how long you live with the carpet they cleaned and they prove that you are getting new flooring by taking your old carpet. It sounds a bit sketchy.

Proof of replacement and he's probably selling it. If he cant reinstall it in a s-hole he may sell it to a carpet recycler. We have a family friend who is in the carpet recycling business. I cant remember exactly what he does with the fiber. From what I understand it's a multi million dollar business with no profit and lots of expensive equipment

Last thought If You want Your money back they get the carpet! Most people will just pay and live with exisiting crap tell they can afford to replace!
Its a bad guarantee they know most wont take them up on it!

It's just a complicated version of a guarantee I've had since day one nearly 25 years ago
But without a stupid condition , why reinvent the money back guarantee?
