The fabric you puff heads :winky:

When cleaning:
  1. Any issues with dye loss?
  2. Does it need to be cleaned differently than say Linen?
  3. Anything I should ask but forgot due to my advancing age?

Bawb?

Trying to learn from others knowledge.
Problem with some testing is that to be 100% certain, you need to see it once it's completely dry.
And personally, I'd rather watch paint dry.

I prefer to watch the grass grow. Paint just doesn't do it for me any more. :winky:

Ofer isn't it just sisal?

What's the condition?
Will a good vacuuming and a wipe down with OMS be enough?

Dry foam & sea sponge?

Looking at real cleaning solutions if possible, not the "look like its clean" methods, again, if possible.

Sisal will lose color with many cleaners.
Is that your experience with hemp, Harry?

From what you tried, would a mild pre-spray, like fine fabric pre-spray, take some of the color out?
Is there browning?

Talking about "free" furnishing.
I already have a small furry woolly rug for my office.

My mistake was telling the client in advance (that is before delivery) that the urine (yellow) stains did not come out. The smell did, not the discoloring. So she never called or replied to any of my calls and emails thereafter. Of course she did not pay either.
Something to be said for collecting half the charge when picking up the rugs.

Oh well, I figured, if the opportunity arises, it will look really nice with Hemp :winky:

Well if you have to keep it...how big is the rug? When it is rolled up, can one person hold it on one end? While the other end is slowly burning...

Bawb be right over to help "carrying" it.

Any issues with dye loss? If wet cleaned it will lose color like any other plant fiber. It will lose color unevenly.
Does it need to be cleaned differently than say Linen? If cleaning dyed linen, you would expect fading/color loss, so no difference.
Anything I should ask but forgot due to my advancing age? Maybe not possible in Cali/SanFran, but dry solvent cleaning works.

If it has pile, the pile will be worn/brittle in areas of higher use.

It is sometimes possible to let the customer know to expect color loss with cleaning, and let them know that the maker intended for this to happen to give a casual appearance to the fabric. (Remember denim sofas?) If they don't think casual is OK, you can always decline the honor of being blamed for their poor choice.

How dirty is it?

The easy answer is to clean it like other cellulose fibers, but color loss is an issue. Avoid "Haitian Cotton/Natural Cotton" cleaners that contain reducing agents, and surely avoid oxidizers as cleaners or boosters.

A neutral detergent and lukewarm rinse is best, then dry it quick.

Can you clean it at your location? Absorbent powder (the spotting stuff, not the carpet cleaning stuff) can do wonders for you.
