CRB only?

As I mentioned earlier.... Not much respect from me to those that CRB only (residential) carpets.

Here is why:

Two bedroom apartment. carpet is the infamous polyhorror crap. Crushed/matted down all throughout.

Vacuumed.

This is what it looks like.

Presprayed with secret sauce in the pump up sprayer.


Got the much discussed CRB and scrubbed it:

This is what I did next.

Got the 360XL with pad driver and the grey scrubbing microfiber pad.

Went over the area:

Next I did this to show some of you what you don't get. Rinsed the pad and hand wrung in the white sink. (to show the dirt)

Then I went over the same area with the pad and rinsed it again.

I grabbed a freshly washed but almost dry Chem dry pad to pick up even more dirt and moisture from the same dining/entry area.

I ended up using two handful of pads... This here is just that small dining area that I took pictures of.



I brushed it all out and was done.

So my point is: don't you tell me that you cleaned a carpet with some prespray and a CRB.

That's not good enough.... even if it looks better.

Good point. Was gonna start a new thread but maybe I'll just post it here. I just landed my first ever non-truckmount job. It's a 7th floor apartment that had just had a new level loop carpet installed and then a water heater leaked and flooded the apartment. The plan is to use the Vario and some pads but how would you guys tackle this 7 floors up. What juice would you use? What pads etc... It's only lightly soiled with a bunch of construction dirt on top.

Hey Justin,

Pre-vacuum like normal - and Vacuum like crazy where the construction dirt is.

Scrub the carpet with MicroBeast bonnets and Encap-Punch or Encap-CleanDS2. Do a wet-pass / dry-pass with the Vario. That should do the trick! I've been doing a ton of field testing with the Vario lately and the results have been terrific (running Microbeast bonnets and Encap-CleanDS2). It's quick, dries super fast, and all the carpet looks great!

You can use a corner brush but if it only light soil we might just use a folded pad dampened with Encapsulation solution.

I agree...always have an extraction component in the mix to extract the soil. The job is simply not finished until you do. Great pics...

Zee thanks for the second post, as I was going to have a lengthy conversation with you the next time I would have seen you.

Zee makes a Good point.

The carpet looks so much better after the crb has scrubbed the pre spray in.


Can't tell you how many customers are ready to pay, right after the pre spray me scrubb, only to have to let them know we he yet to clean by extraction at that point.

Don't get tempted to just vac, spray, scrubb and run as it will catch up with you, when their start walking around on the carpet with white socks.

I can't keep those loop style bonnets under the oscillator. Much better luck with flat cotton pads. Wish I could get the stains out of the pads.

The prespray that "i just used" was release it (encap.) on 2 of the jobs I did...I heavy vac'd both jobs with my Sanitiare...Came out beautiful...Both of these homes were very lightly soiled from what I can see...I always say your as good as your last job...Even doing it right doesn't mean people (your clients) are happy...I do things right all the time, and people still complain, then write a review...

Ya Rick...If I was you, in the future, do a group buy on the 10"CRB and the VARIO as a package...Think of all the money...Possible these tools go hand in hand...

So is Carbonated Solutions.

I have both and would use either if I had to vlm clean.

I understand your point but a few questions.
Do you always clean and them go over it with the 360xl and the pads 3x?
If you wanded and then used pads what would the result be?
If you let it dry came back next day and vacuumed the heck out of and then tested it the results would be different?

While I have never tested the questions I asked myself I believe that if I cleaned a carpet in that condition with any of my TM machines and crb first and the used Hoss on it I could come back the next day and find some dirt on a pad.

I know that HWE is the best method to clean with and the process to get excellent as you preformed here.

But with the CRB, Cimex, and Vario machines out there and vastly improved chemicals it is a business model or service that continues to improve.
We do not offer it as a service but we may someday. Truckmounts and the chemicals improve also and that is what we do.

I am a very small business owner but I want to make sure I am never BlockBuster saying Netflix is nothing to look at.

You are now ready to graduate to the VLM boards.... Nostickyresidue .... excellent supply forum ....
In my experience the loopies only work with the rotaries as the loops seem to absorb the orbit.
The cotton loopies seem to pick up a lot of moisture, the microfiber pick up a lot but always wash back to white, the cotton pads get dingy.

Ive explained to some customers when needed that with each cleaning the carpets may stay clean longer. I cant get it all out the first time on the nasties but if they take care of it better and have me back before its trashed I will get even better results.

They usually aint paying emough anyway.
